Accessibility User Guide

To help you access all information on the BUX website and mobile application, we have outlined how you can utilize the accessibility tools already built into your device, as well as recommended browser extensions.

1. Using Built-in Accessibility Tools

Most modern devices come with powerful assistive technology pre-installed. Here is how you can use them with BUX.

For Mac Users (macOS)

  • VoiceOver (Screen Reader): Press Command + F5 to toggle VoiceOver on or off. This will read aloud the text on our website  and help you navigate menus without a mouse.
  • Zoom: Go to System Settings > Accessibility > Zoom. You can then use keyboard shortcuts (e.g., Option + Command + 8).
  • Display Settings: Go to System Settings > Accessibility > Display to invert colors, increase contrast, or reduce transparency if the presented information  is difficult to read.

For PC Users (Windows)

  • Narrator (Screen Reader): Press Windows Logo Key + Ctrl + Enter to start Narrator.
  • Magnifier: Press Windows Logo Key + Plus (+) to zoom in on specific parts of the dashboard. Press Windows Logo Key + Esc to exit.
  • High Contrast Mode: Press Left Alt + Left Shift + Print Screen to toggle high contrast mode, making text distinct against the background.

For Mobile Users (Android & iOS)

Since BUX is a mobile-first experience, our app supports native mobile accessibility features:

  • Android (TalkBack): Go to Settings > Accessibility > TalkBack to enable the screen reader.
  • Android (Magnification): Go to Settings > Accessibility > Magnification to enable triple-tap zooming on charts.
  • iOS (VoiceOver): Go to Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver to enable the screen reader.
  • iOS (Dynamic Type): Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Text Size. The BUX app will adjust text size according to your system preference (if supported by the current app version).

2. Recommended Browser Plugins (Chrome & Firefox)

If you are accessing BUX via the web and need additional support, the following browser extensions can assist you.

Note: These are third-party tools not affiliated with BUX, but they are widely used for accessibility.

For Visual Impairment & Color Blindness:

  • Dark Reader (Chrome / Firefox): Forces a dark mode on websites that don’t have one, helping reduce eye strain and improving contrast for low-vision users.
  • High Contrast (Chrome): Developed by Google, this lets you invert colors or switch to high-contrast grayscale.

For Dyslexia & Reading Difficulties:

  • Helperbird (Chrome / Firefox): An all-in-one extension that offers dyslexia-friendly fonts (like OpenDyslexic), text-to-speech, and overlay tints to make reading our articles and information on the website easier.
  • Read Aloud (Chrome / Firefox): A text-to-speech voice reader that can read out our articles and information present on the website.

For Motor Impairment (Keyboard Navigation):CrxMouse Chrome Gestures (Chrome): Allows you to navigate the website using simple mouse gestures if clicking small buttons is difficult.
